My Nomad Diary, Week 20:
Moments from the week:
- Getting my own personal space again
- Redesigning my blog (you’re looking at it!)
My favourite places this week:
Another Monday in the bank and after a nice sociable weekend of exploring, I’m ready to knuckle down and do some work – nothing much more to report today – in fact, I don’t really have anything planned all week, so it’s going to be a bit of an uneventful one this week I’m afraid!
With that in mind, fast-forward to Tuesday, and honestly, I’m ready to kill somebody today… the sleep struggles at this place are starting to rub me up the wrong way. I’m going to cover it in a more detailed review, but the issue is that the building is half finished, and it’s a rough job at that, so there’s a lot of sound leakage. Avoiding other humans today and just keeping my head down 😅
Wednesday, and it’s a beautiful day. I’ve had a decent amount of sleep, and my main client has signed off their logo, which means I can press ahead with the rest of the project. I’m really looking forward to launching this one! Like, really looking forward to it. If I could have detailed what my perfect project could look like, this is it – it’s going to do wonders for my portfolio, I’m very excited! Nothing much else to report really, I’m having a quiet week until I move on to Manizales this week 🥳

But it didn’t stop there, I then started receiving gifts sent to my co-living and a flurry of messages from people thousands of miles away.
That’s one of the best things about travelling the world. I’ve always felt a little bit out of place in my home town. I’ve got like, three maybe four close friends after thirty years. But after these past few years of travelling, I have at least ten people I don’t go one week without speaking to.
And all of them sent me messages, called me or arranged for surprise deliveries to my co-living. Back home? My mum, my dad and two friends remembered, and that was it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really the sentimental type. I hate Christmas, and I use my birthday as an excuse to meet my friends once a year on a massive bender, so it’s fine.
Friday and my last working day here at Co404, I’ve enjoyed the concept of a co-living and I’m definitely going to do more, but I’ll be honest, this one really fell short of the mark. They’ve cut too many corners, and it really shows. But the positive is, I’ve found another new way of living, and there are hundreds of co-livings all across LATAM to choose from.
Saturday and it’s time to move on, I cannot wait to have some privacy again. Today I have a 5 hour bus to Manizales, the heart of the Colombian coffee region, and I can’t wait (to arrive there, not for the 5 hour bus)! A great start to the day: I got moved onto an earlier bus, and it arrived 90 mins ahead of schedule as there was no traffic – result. Didn’t do much when I got to Manizales; did the usual essentials shop, unpacked, set up my home office and called it a day.
Sunday came around, and the lack of sleep I’d struggled with all week finally caught up with me… 14 hours of sleep. Understandably, there is nothing to report today. But an exciting week ahead of me; more on that soon!
See you next week 👋
